The basic method of zipper strength test and the summary of domestic and international standards

Jan 03,2024 BSL

I. Basic test methods for measuring zipper strength by reciprocating zipper pull tester:

(1) Test of Zipper Pulling Strength

Flat pull strength is the most basic indicator of strength, which is used to test the ability of zipper teeth to resist lateral force under interlocking state, which is very similar to the actual state of use.

(2) Test of stopping force

The zipper teeth are interlocked, and the zipper head is pulled down to the upper stop, pulling the zipper head, at this time can measure the strength of the upper stop of the zipper, which is simulated the zipper in the holding state, the zipper head over the upper stop off or move the upper stop from the tape bar when the ability to resist the external force.

(3) Zipper test of lower extremity strength

Pulling the slider to the lower stop, the teeth are divided into left and right parts, and pulling the chain teeth on the left and right sides can measure the force required for the lower stop to be destroyed, as well as measure the resistance of the internal structure of the slider.

(4), open-end flat pull strength test

Test the resistance of the open-end zipper insert and socket to external damage, fixture up and down respectively to fix the left and right sides of the open-end, zipper in the case of closure, start the machine.

(5) Test of slider locking strength

The slider is self-locked in the middle of the chain teeth, and the chain teeth of the zipper are divided into left and right parts, stretching the left and right parts of the zipper can test the locking strength and the resistance of the internal components of the slider.

(6) Test of slider flap bonding strength

Apply the pulling force in the direction perpendicular to the pulling flap until the flap is separated from the pulling body, and the value recorded at this time is the combined strength of the pulling head and flap.
